5th April 2023  — The Government has announced that it will not implement the Liberty Protection Safeguards (LPS) this side of the next general election, which will take place in the autumn of 2024. An update from the Government, announced in a letter from the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) to stakeholders, published here on 5 April 2023.
